Wrinkles and fine lines

At the Derma-Act clinics, we offer a wide range of effective, modern and personalized procedures for removal of wrinkles and fine lines. With our assistance, you can obliterate the traces of time and ensure a truly youthful and fresh appearance for yourself.

Early skin aging is a problem which everyone encounters sooner or later. Although wrinkles appear on the skin in both sexes, they become visible earlier in women since the aging process in men is slower. The reason for this is that their skin is denser by 25% than female skin, which makes loosening and fine lines less probable. The good news is that the process is not irreversible and different treatment options are available.

Natural result

Many people are concerned about their wrinkles but do not undertake any steps for their removal. One of the main reasons is that they are afraid to look "expressionless and cold" after an intervention. At the Derma-Act clinics, our aim is to achieve a maximally natural result in the treatment of loose skin and wrinkles. This is achievable thanks to our year-long experience in this field and the specific technique of our dermatologists acquired over time. The procedures for treatment of wrinkles are something worth doing and you should try it. They are painless and 100% safe.

Types of wrinkles on the face

Wrinkles are divided into two main categories depending on the causes of their occurrence – dynamic and static. Dynamic wrinkles, also known as mimic wrinkles, are formed as a result of repeated face expressions such as laughing, frowning, pursing one's lips, etc. They are formed in the areas of intensive mobility such as the forehead (horizontal and vertical wrinkles), the glabella (frown lines), in the internal angle of the eyes (crow's feet) and around the mouth (wrinkles caused by smiling). Static wrinkles are formed mainly due to the loss of collagen and elasticity during the aging process. This type of wrinkles appears most often on the cheeks, around the nose and mouth. Nasolabial wrinkles are usually the most emphasized sign of the natural aging of face.

In which areas of the face is the occurrence of wrinkles most often seen?

The wrinkles occurring on the face are divided into two categories:
Horizontal depressions which are formed due to frequent wrinkling of skin due to raising the eyebrows, and vertical lines, which are formed after any expressive mimic on the face. Over time, wrinkles remain stably on face, irrespective of the patient's expression, since the retraction of the skin to its position becomes more difficult.

Eyebrows and eyelids
The frown line is the distinct vertical fold between the eyebrows.

Eyes
Fine wrinkles in the corners of the eyes resembling crow's feet are almost invisible initially, but over time and due to the decreased production of collagen and elastin, they become increasingly deeper.

Nose and lips
Nasopharyngeal wrinkles are seen in the area of the nose and mouth corners. Also, marionette lines giving a sad and tired appearance occur. They start from the corners of the mouth and continue down to the edge of the lower jaw.

Neck
The loosening of the neck muscles leads to the loss of density of the skin and the occurrence of horizontal and vertical wrinkles, which extend to the chest. Horizontal wrinkles result from the decrease of collagen and elastin, while vertical wrinkles are formed due to remaining in the same position for many years. Sleeping in the same position is often the main reason for vertical wrinkles on the neck and chest.

What are the causes for the occurrence of wrinkles?

  • Hormonal aging
Over the years, there is a decrease of the production of collagen and weakening of elastin fibres. The skin loosens and loses its youthful density, while fine lines become more intense and deeper.
  • Genetic aging
The natural process leading to the weakening and decomposition of the two building components of the skin, elastin and collagen proteins.
  • Exposure to sunlight
Excessive exposure to sunlight without proper sun-protection accelerates the manifestation of wrinkles, increases the formation of free radicals and inhibits the production of elastin and collagen fibres.
  • Repeated facial mimics
Specific expressions of the face that are repeated very often as a response to surprise, agony, gladness, sadness, etc., leave traces on the skin since elastin fibres are weakened.

Botulinum toxin

Injecting botox paralyses certain facial muscles temporarily, making their contraction impossible for a certain period of time. Thus, it inhibits the formation of new wrinkles and the deepening of already existing wrinkles.
Botox is applied in the cases when mimic wrinkles on the face and neck need to be smoothed for a more youthful appearance and expression. Moreover, botox also controls the undesired sweating on the face and mostly on the forehead. Its use for smoothing the wrinkles between the eyebrows, around the eyes (known as crow’s feet) and around the lips appears to be particularly successful. It can change the general appearance of the face, eliminating tired appearance.

Durability of the results

How long the result of an individual procedure will last depends to a large extent on the muscle arrangement of the face. According to the synchronization of emotions and muscle contractions, faces are divided into three types: Orthokinetic, hyperkinetic and hypertonic. The orthomotor type, in which a perfect synchronization is seen, is the ideal type. The proper identification of the face type and use of proper dosing are the key factors in the treatment and also lead to a balanced result, without an unnaturally frozen expression on the face. Other factors influencing the durability of the effect may be age, skin condition, photoaging grade, smoking, etc.
