Hair transplantation is the only way to thicken hair with long-lasting results. The procedure is suitable for all stages of hair loss, but it is important to keep in mind that one has a limited amount of hair on the back of one’s head and this should guide one’s decision making.
The FUE method
The FUE method (Follicular Unit Extraction), also known as the “needle” method, is the golden standard in hair transplants. The procedure is non-invasive, leaves no scars, and usually proceeds without complications. This makes hair transplants using the FUE method the most reliable and sought-after way to treat permanent hair loss.
FUE hair transplantation is performed under local anesthesia and has a minimal recovery period. During the procedure, the surgeon implants donor hair follicles (most often from the back of the head) using special implant devices. The ability of the implant to adapt to the placement area ensures natural hair growth, with the appropriate direction and angle of hair growth. Results are permanent, with the new hair usually starting to grow 4 to 6 months after the transplant, and the full effect of the transplant showing up to 1 year after the procedure itself.
Derma-Act guarantees results to its patients through a series of hair follicle counts before and after transplantation. To ensure the promised end result, Derma-Act Infinity features FotoFinder. The TrichoLAB program enables detailed and accurate diagnosis of scalp diseases, as well as digital trichoscopy. The number of hair follicles that will be needed to restore hair density can be accurately calculated. FotoFinder Trichoscale Pro allows us to measure the exact rate of hair loss in each patient and analyze the characteristic of alopecia. It also helps to calculate the hair follicles after the transplant – that is, the follicles that have been transplanted and grown back in the thinned areas. This gives you certainty about the increased number of follicles and that it is what you paid for. If there is a discrepancy between the promises and the final result after the transplant, the additional follicles will be transplanted completely free of charge.
How does the procedure work?
At the first pre-transplant visit, a series of photographs are taken of the patient’s scalp using the FotoFinder Trichovision® system. Information is obtained on the number of hairs per square centimeter, the percentage of growing and falling hair, the number of follicular units per square centimeter. The quantitative characteristics of the follicles and the distance between them are determined. Fotofinder has a special function for determining hair thickness.
After a detailed analysis of the received data, the transplant is carried out. The patient returns to their normal lifestyle and returns for a check-up between 8 and 12 months after the procedure. Again the same series of photographs are taken with the FotoFinder apparatus and a new analysis is performed. If after this visit there are more than 15% lost transplanted follicles, the clinic performs an additional operation completely free of charge.
